| Simple XR2211 Tone Decoder | |
| Some
have been asking about making a simple tone decoder using an XR-2211 IC.
Here it is. This one has the components for decoding 1200 baud tones as used in packet. For 300 baud decoding, take a look the XR chip page and note the change in component values for the 300 baud tones on one of the schematics shown on that page. Note this tone decoder is for non polarized data, like packet. With simple changes to the RS-232 interface (the transistor), data can be re-inverted if need be. If this modem is to be used with EMWIN The serial connection needed is the DR line pin 2 of a DB-9 connector. Be sure to ground pin 5 of the DB-9 connector to your project! |

The information on each page is "as-is", try at your own risk, and so on. We can help you out some what, as time permits. Try to stay on topic. Please, do not ask to "engineer" or "re-engineer" a design to suit your special project. We do not sell parts or kits of any kind. All said, we are open to any suggestions on adding more material, as long as it is on topic with a particular web page of the Technicothica web site. An example of things that are not "on topic" are: Support for APRS, EMWIN, TNC's and sound card stuff. ~Thanks!
