A personal comment on the technical manual...
(Thumbing through this Manual) It looks like you only need this information if you are going to engineer a telephone modem for actual land-line use. And a very slow one at that by today's standards. The 79101 data sheet, A separate documentation which is very detailed, is all you really need to build a modem for Amateur Radio use.
